The largest Solar
project in the world
A remote village of nearly 400houses, Mundanmudy in Idukki district, Kerala, had no access to the electrical grid. At an elevation of approximately 2000m and located near a forest reserve, the village depended solely on kerosene lamps for their lighting needs till 1997.
The introduction of solar lighting has changed the lives of villagers dramatically. Now house after house sports solar panels and can be assured of a reliable energy source that’s also non-polluting.
The solar lighting system in Mundanmudy is the largest installation of its kind in the world and set a new industry standard in India. We even trained local villagers to maintain the lighting system so that any maintenance could be carried out locally and quickly. We also offered a generous 5-year maintenance contract.
